The Alumni Association

Who We Are . . .

The Alumni Relations Office and the Alumni Association of the UConn School of Social Work are an integral part of the academic community. The Association and the Alumni Relations Office are dedicated to promoting the welfare and excellence of the School and to fostering mutually supportive relationships with alumni, faculty, students and the community-at-large. Established in 1990, the Alumni Association has developed into a vibrant and dynamic organization serving greater than 5000 members. The Board of Directors is elected by SSW alumni and this group of dedicated individuals meets monthly. The combined efforts and energies of the Alumni Relations Office, the Alumni Association and the Alumni Board are devoted to the following objectives:

  • Developing an awareness of the School of Social Work and its contributions to the State and region
  • Fostering community support and establishing a political network that advocates for the University, the School of Social Work, as well as the social work profession
  • Fostering a strong relationship with alumni and students to engage them in the Alumni Association:
    • offering free educational programs on current social work topics. Recent lunchtime programs have been held on political advocacy, and securing funding for your agency
    • supporting Student Organization activities such as the career and networking social
  • Promoting fundraising activities to establish an independent source of funds available for scholarships and various alumni activities
  • Offering a special alumni registration rate for STEP continuing professional education programs
  • Sponsoring social events and presenting an annual award to a graduating student
  • Publishing Interaction, the School's news magazine for alumni and friends
