About Outreach

The School of Social Work maintains close and on-going relationships with external constituencies that include social work practitioners, social service recipients, advocacy groups, social service agencies, professional associations, regulatory agencies, the academic community and the community at large. These reciprocal relationships contribute both to the quality and relevance of the School's educational programs, as well as to the enhancement of social programs and services.

The School's faculty is involved in a wide range of service activities in professional social work organizations and in the community at both the local and national level. These include service on advisory boards, consultation, research projects and training.

The School of Social Work, in accordance with the University of Connecticut, defines outreach activities within the following categories:

Engaged Scholarship activities which involve external partnerships;

University Resources, those activities that are available from the university to the general public but for which there may be a cost involved; and

Public Service, those activities which the University provides to the public at no charge.
